John E. Walker FCBV, CA, LL.B.

John is Managing Director, Head of Canadian M&A with HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc. ("HSBC").  John’s work primarily involves mergers and acquisitions, fairness opinions, strategic defense, and restructurings. Prior to joining HSBC, John was a Managing Director in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group of CIBC World Markets Inc. (“CIBC”).  Prior to joining CIBC, John practiced law in New York City, as a member of the M&A Group of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, a major U.S. law firm, and as a partner of Stikeman Elliott LLP, a major Canadian law firm.  John’s legal practice focused primarily on corporate finance and securities matters including public and private financings and cross-border M&A transactions. John’s experience also includes a secondment as legal counsel to the Ontario Securities Commission – Corporate Finance Division.  He is licensed to practice law in New York State and Ontario, Canada.
