INTRODUCTION
The Programme of Studies, consisting of six (6) courses, is offered by distance education (home-study). All courses are offered in both semesters, i.e., the Spring/Summer (May - September) and the Fall/Winter (November - March). It is designed as a three-year programme, but there are no restrictions for those students wishing to complete it in a shorter period. The number of courses taken per semester is your decision.
Students, who choose to join this programme, should note that in order to apply to write the Membership Entrance Exam (MEE) and become a member of the Institute, they must also meet the practical experience requirement. (see MEE requiremnet)
The mandatory six (6) courses are:
Four (4) Core Courses:
Introductory Business and Security Valuation
Intermediate Business and Security Valuation
Advance Business and Security Valuation
Law and Tax
Two (2) electives from the following:
Litigation I (on-line course)
Litigation II (on-line course)
Private Company Finance (on-line course)
Restructuring (on-line course)
Public Companies (on-line course)
Introduction to Valuation for Financial Reporting (on-line course)
All course notes are sent to the students by York University.
For the core courses, students can (upon registration) access electronic copies of the course notes online by logging into the
www.cicbv.ca website, and referring to the “Course Materials” section; paper copy of the notes will be sent within two weeks of registration.
The elective (online) courses are accessed through the York University online course system. You will receive an e-mail with log in information and instructions on accessing the course from York University by the second week of October. If you register after the second week of October, you will receive your login information within two weeks of registration.
